Claus Rudolph
photographs illusions, dream worlds that show unfulfilled
longings, of full, lush life and enjoyment, of love, sensuality and
passion. The decadence of the presentation is provocative and
makes even the ugly appear beautiful to us. But it also shows us
the negative sides of life: loss, death and grief. The colorful,
shimmering illusory world is contrasted with another world in
which immaterial values are in the foreground. In his mythically
inspired triptych Lilywhite Lillith, for example, the artist contrasts
splendid society with the poverty-stricken, spiritual and ideal
world of the monks, turned away from this world. The main
character Lillith stands between these worlds and embodies
light and shadow as it were. The theme of the feminine, the
woman, can be found in ever new variations in the works of
Claus Rudolph: the artist shows the viewer not only the
beautiful, erotic and seductive side but also the other side of the
feminine, the dark side of seduction, manipulation and intrigue.
Wolfgang Pietrzok
Nude and space - series of works by the pinches
Born in 1949, studied fine arts at the Werkkunstschule Hannover
(Prof. R.Girke) and at the HbK Kassel (Prof. F. Neusüss) from 1970-75. In
his work, Pietrzok draws on artistic actionism and his experiences at
the Kassel Art Academy on the one hand, and the concept of photo
performance on the other. Here, the square of the glass plate proves to
be its specific universe, reduced to a black imprint in the body or as if
in a spasm appear frozen, but where body parts come together as in a
puzzle to form a new body whole. On a large sheet of glass covered
with blue paint, he has female and male models assume poses that are
partially mutually exclusive result from the movement, but in his multi-
part works are the result of precise planning.
Rüdiger Schestag
Wallpaper Projekt
The Wallpaper Project is a collection of wallpaper and people
portraits. Both original and retro wallpapers are the focus of the
portrait series by the artist and photographer Rüdiger Schestag.
The wallpaper appears in its original form as a wall dressing wall
decoration. Rüdiger Schestag presents the interior of the spatial
living culture through the individual decades in a stylishly
reduced manner. Old patterns, colors, fabrics and much more are
booming again in the design of yesteryear. The “retro wave” is
particularly popular with young people. Shrill, colorful and cheeky
- this is how many of the wallpaper patterns appear. In contrast to
the clothed wall, the women portrayed in front of it are
undressed. The half-nudes - sometimes deliberately, sometimes
unconsciously - are representative of the younger generation. It
heralds the revival of the trendy, colorful wallpaper culture and
the retrospective is a real ecstasy. The young women, professional
models and laypeople create a tension between old wallpaper
and youth. The portrait series ranges from funny and cheeky to
melancholy, angelic or shocking. The punk, the hippie girl, the
Barbie blend - women, like the wallpapers, have many faces ...
Tina Gekeler
Inspirations from a changing world
Frank Pulst
The photo artist who captures the
magic of the moment
Frank Pulst is a renowned photo artist whose work is characterized by
a special ability: making the hidden beauty and depth of the moment
visible. His photographs are much more than just images - they are
powerful narratives that take the viewer on a journey through
emotions, moods and thoughts. With his camera, Pulst succeeds in
creating aesthetically fascinating and at the same time profound
compositions that often explore the invisible and the subtle
connections in the world.
Whether impressive landscapes that show nature in all its splendor or
abstract compositions that make the unknown visible - each of his
works opens up its own dimension that offers space for interpretation
and personal experience. Pulst's photographs create a unique
connection between viewer and image and invite you to explore and
feel the depth of the moment with all its nuances.
Tina Gekeler's artistic journey is not limited to her home country. Through art
encounters in Myanmar, she came into contact with the traditional art and
unique materials of the Mekong Delta in Vietnam. Inspired by cultural travel and
a focus on art in Asia, South America, North Africa and especially Italy, she has
expanded her knowledge of art and created numerous works that are
presented in this exhibition.
The artist's works arise from the impressions of her experiences, with
encounters with people from different cultures, especially from Central America
and India, having a significant influence on her art. The diversity of
representations and customs that she experienced on her travels is reflected in
her works.
Tina Gekeler doesn't want to use her works to point the finger and point out
grievances in the world by saying: "Look at how we are all destroying the world,
there is another way." Her images are not problematic at first glance, but their
meaning only becomes apparent upon closer inspection. They show what can
happen and has already happened. The artist wants to express beauty and joy
through the contrast with her water paintings, although she also regrets the
gradual scarcity of the element water.
